چکیده
In the present paper we give a new method for estimation and quantification of Heart Rate Variability (HRV) in the VLF,LF,HF bands using the basic concept of variability previously introduced. The method enables to quantify ANS modulation of R-R intervals. In a subsequent paper we will give detailed exposition of the performed and confirming experiments.

Rightward dominance in temporal high-frequency electrical asymmetry corresponds to higher resting heart rate and lower baroreflex sensitivity in a heterogeneous population
OBJECTIVE Explore potential use of a temporal lobe electrical asymmetry score to discriminate between sympathetic and parasympathetic tendencies in autonomic cardiovascular regulation. METHODS 131 individuals (82 women, mean age 43.1, range 13-83) with diverse clinical conditions completed inventories for depressive (CES-D or BDI-II) and insomnia-related (ISI) symptomatology, and underwent fi...
متن کاملHeart rate variability and heart rate asymmetry analysis: does the inspiration/expiration ratio matter?
TO THE EDITOR: In the Journal of Applied Physiology, Wang et al. (2) published their studies on the effects of paced breathing at different inspiration/expiration (I/E) ratios on spontaneous baroreflex sensitivity (BRS), heart rate variability (HRV), and heart rate asymmetry (HRA). The authors concluded that the I/E ratio need not to be set in BRS or spectral HRV analysis. In our recent work (1...
متن کاملClinical, hemispheric, and autonomic changes associated with use of closed-loop, allostatic neurotechnology by a case series of individuals with self-reported symptoms of post-traumatic stress
BACKGROUND The objective of this pilot study was to explore the use of a closed-loop, allostatic, acoustic stimulation neurotechnology for individuals with self-reported symptoms of post-traumatic stress, as a potential means to impact symptomatology, temporal lobe high frequency asymmetry, heart rate variability (HRV), and baroreflex sensitivity (BRS). METHODS From a cohort of individuals pa...
متن کاملThe effect of backpacks on the lumbar spine in children: a standing magnetic resonance imaging study.
STUDY DESIGN This study is a repeated measures design to measure the lumbar spine response to typical school backpack loads in healthy children. The lumbar spine in this setting was measured for the first time by an upright magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study is to measure the lumbar spine response to typical school backpack loads in healthy children....
متن کاملGlycosaminoglycan Chemical Exchange Saturation Transfer of Lumbar Intervertebral Discs in Healthy Volunteers.
STUDY DESIGN Evaluation of a new quantitative imaging technique in a prospective study design. OBJECTIVE To assess glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content of lumbar intervertebral discs (IVDs) in healthy volunteers with chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST). SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA Biochemical alterations of lumbar discs are present before the appearance of morphological changes. GAG loss...
